Get your Kraken key ready
About two minutes. Do this before you start setting up Homing.
What you're making
An API key that lets Homing check your balances and withdraw to wallet addresses you've already saved at Kraken. It can't trade, and it can't add new addresses.
Steps
- On the same phone or computer you'll use Homing on, open kraken.com in the web browser (Safari or Chrome) and sign in. The Kraken app can't create API keys, so use the website. The key is too long to type, so using the same device lets you copy and paste.
- Tap your profile, then Security and access, then Create API key.
- In Name, type Homing.

Under Funds permissions, check only Query and Withdraw. Leave every other box unchecked and every switch off. It should look like this:

- Tap Generate key at the bottom. Kraken shows an API key and a Private key. The private key is shown only once, so leave that page open.
- Switch to Homing, go to the Connect your Kraken account step, and tap Paste next to each box. Homing checks the key with Kraken right away and tells you if a setting needs changing.
Good to know
- Your wallet's receiving addresses need to be saved at Kraken already and approved from Kraken's email. Homing can only send to those.
- You can leave Homing in the middle of setup to do this. When you come back, sign in or unlock with your passkey and it picks up where you left off.
- If you accidentally close the Kraken page before copying the private key, just delete that key at Kraken and make a new one.
- Use this key only for Homing. If you ever stop using Homing, delete the key at Kraken.
